The Value of Christ Sacrifice

Bishop Ademowo

I welcome you to the corporate website of the Diocese of Lagos, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and these series of a “Word from the Diocesan”. In this series I intend to introduce and share with you the Man, Jesus Christ, who once traversed the present day Palestine, on this planet in flesh and blood. That Man is God and His Holy Spirit is very much alive today in this planet.

We live in a world where many feel that they have knowledge and the answers to all human situations. They feel that through Science they can explain all of creation and even recreate creation, so they do not need God or even believe that He exists. God created this planet and all that is in it together with the knowledge, things we know today and those we would know tomorrow.

We have so much confusion and wars today and in the past because man has always been rebellious in his relationship with his Creator. Many find themselves in situations where they cannot control the urge in themselves to do evil. They would even argue that evil is relative. The resultant confusion is real, so also are the wars, killings, terrorism, oppression, immorality, envy, jealousy. All these have set in because we have abandoned the Fountain of knowledge and The Bible, which He has given to us as a guide. It is His written Word which will take us out of this confusion and lead us back to His design for this planet.

Thank God that He has not abandoned us on this path of destruction that we have chosen for ourselves. His love for man is so great that He has to come down in flesh and blood to dwell within us and through His one perfect sacrifice create a way out from our confusion and reconcile us back to Himself. As you believe in Jesus Christ who made this sacrifice for man, you begin to experience peace which the world cannot give. What a loving Father. Psalm 8:4 in appreciating God asks “What is man that You are mindful of him and the son of man that You visit him. For You have made him a little lower than the angels and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hand; You have put all things under his feet”

My dear friend let us use the power that God has given us to serve Him and not to rebel against Him. He expects us to love Him as He has loved us and has prepared even greater glory for us when we leave this planet. 1 Corinthians 2: 9 says “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him”

We will have to leave this planet one day and we should be concerned about where we would spend eternity after our death. God has prepared for us and Jesus Christ is the only Way that can lead us to inherit all that preparation.

Through His sacrifice He has brought light and peace to this world. I call on you to read the Holy Bible always and accept Him as your Lord and personal savior and He will give you peace, joy and happiness. He promised in Matthew 28:20b that “I am with you always even to the end of age”. As we enter this week when He made the supreme sacrifice that you and I may live and that the world may know peace, may you enter into that peace which He only can provide.

The Scriptures say in Revelations 3:20 that “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open unto me, I will come in and dine with him, and he shall dine with me". My dear friend as you go through these series, harden not your heart. But open it for the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus to come in and help you. Avail yourself of this unique opportunity

Have a blessed week living in God’s peace.
