

2ND SESSION OF THE 30TH SYNOD OF THE DIOCESE OF LAGOS.

The Anglican Diocese of Lagos, which is the premier Diocese of the Anglican Church in Nigeria kicked off the Second Session of its 30th Synod on Sunday 4th May, 2008 at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos. The opening service was presided by the Diocesan and President of Synod, His Grace, The Most Revd Ephraim Adebola Ademowo, OON, FNAL, Ph. D. |
It also had in attendance the Retired primate of the Anglican Church in Nigeria and Bishop of Lagos, The Most Revd Dr. Joseph Abiodun Adetiloye, Lord Bishops of Lagos Mainland, Rt. Revd Prof. Adebayo Dada Akinde, Ife Diocese, Rt. Revd Oluranti Odubogun, Ifo Missionary Diocese, Rt. Revd J. Akin Odejide, Ajayi Crowther Diocese, Rt Revd Olukemi Oduntan, among other church and state Dignitaries.

A thought provoking Sermon was delivered by the Revd Canon Dapo Asaju, Professor of Religious Studies, acting Dean of Faculty of Arts and Chaplain of the Chapel of Light, Lagos State University, Ojo. He spoke profoundly on the Synod Theme ‘’Upholding the Faith once delivered to the Saint’’. |

He traced the history of Christianity back to Africa and reminded all that even the Canonisation of the Holy Bible was done in Africa, many of the early Church leaders who died for the cause of the Gospel were Africans. He noted that the latest Strategy of the devil is to join rather than fight the church, he therefore enjoined all delegates and Anglicans to be aware of its devices and contend for their faith.
He submitted that African Christians must shun every glittering deceit of the devil and faithfully re-evangelise United States of America and Europe to the glory of Christ and the honour of His name.
