FRIENDS OF GOD.
5th March, 2010
Published: 5th March, 2010   Last modified: 5th March, 2010
You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me (John 15:14&15).

The Scriptures reveal that certain Bible characters walked with God in such an exceptional manner that they were referred to as friends of God. To be referred to as a friend of God or a man after God s heart means a lot. It takes a lot to be a friend of the Almighty. Our level of holiness must be acceptable to God. We must be addicted to prayer and fasting should be an integral part of our lifestyle.

Our lives must also be characterized by humility, faithfulness, goodness and the desire to dig deeper into the well of grace and righteousness. But above all our level of obedience must be 100per cent. Our commitment to obeying God totally will make things that touch the heart of God also touch our hearts.

Abraham, Moses and David were friends of God. There are also categories of friends. There is a friend like Judas Iscariot. When Jesus was here on earth, He had a special friend and apostle in John (John 13:21-26). The implication of total obedience to God is the guaranteed friendship with Him.

Prayer: Let nothing terminate my friendship with you, oh Lord, my God.
