|
Rt. Revd. Seth Irunsewe Kale (1963 â 1974) The Rt. Rev. 5eth Irunsewe Kale was of a humble parentage, but developed himself to become a towering intellectual giant, an apt teacher of sound pedagogical "Skills and a true cure of souls".
Born in the town of Mobalufon in Ijebu Ode Loca Government in Ogun State on June 6, 1904, Set!' Irunsewe Kale had his primary education at Christ's Church Primary School in Porogun and thence to Ijebu Ode Grammar School for secondary education, Foura Bay College in Sierra Leone for theological training an degree in Arts. He returned to Nigeria to teach at his alma mater, Ijebu Ode Grammar School before he was appointed Tutor at CMS Grammar School. He rose to become Vice Principal and later Principal of the prestigious institution for five years and the flagship ¬secondary education in Nigeria.
Deaconed in 1942 an priested a year after, Seth Irunsewe Kale trained briefl at the home office of the CMS in London and on retu to Nigeria in 1949 got appointed to newly created po of "Dean of Anglican Schools and Colleges". He late became a Canon of the Cathedral and later served as Principal of St. Andrew's Teacher Training College, Oyo He was for twelve years deeply involved in the nob art of "moulding the moulders of lives" â teacher shaping character, nurturing intellect and attending various training courses, seminars and workshops home and abroad to deepen his long, fecund experien as an apt teacher of the word, a faithful shephe blessed with a happy home life.
It was while at St. Andrew's College and on one of the occasions, which he was attending an international education Confere of Teachers in far away Brazil that the Episcopal Sy of the Church Prelates meeting in Toronto elected Bishop of Lagos in succession to Adelakun Howell
